Achilles - a drawing I'm sorry I have to abandon

Someone said: a work of art is never finished, it's abandoned.
I worked 1 week on this one. The contemplation part is as beautiful as the drawing part. I stare at the page, then at the sketch, then at one detail, as they slowly emerge. And I wait, till I see another part becoming clear. And when version 1.0 is finished, 2 more days of staring, changing a line, a dot, using a magnifier to see where the paper fabric allows me to add or subtract a value. I never get enough of refining, changing until poor Achilles shouted: stop it, move on!

A Guy that Takes his Time

I don’t like rushing. At times I’m in a buzzing crowd and feel I’m standing in a time bubble: I observe the people rushing around me, texting, missing on things without knowing, just to catch up on other stuff they hope for.
That’s also true for some art. Though Rembrandt is not my most favourite, his drawings and paintings suck me into their time bubble: I slow down and observe, the more I look, the more I discover, the border between what is actually there and what my mind makes up blurs to a maximum.
I like drawing dark and in that dark a lot of life, quiet, secret, discreet, shy details that reveal a whole new world, if you take the time to discover it.
